Observation on the patients admitted to the hospital(s) in the endemic areas of selected tropical diseases in order to gain direct experience of how to diagnose tropical infectious diseases using proper laboratory investigation clinical manifestation and discussion on the treatment and care for these patients, and introduction to primary health care including referral system for care of tropical infectious diseases

Course Objectives
During the course, the students will
Gain knowledge on common arthropods vectors
Learn about common arthropods-borne diseases and zoonosis
Study and discuss cases scenario, demonstration of arthropods-borne diseases and zoonosis
Learning Outcomes
The students should be able to 1) Approach the patients with common tropical diseases presented to hospital in endemic areas. 2) Distinguish the diagnosis of patients with tropical infectious disease, especially malaria, leptospirosis, scrub typhus, melioidosis, and other common tropical infectious diseases in the area. 3) Plan for the investigations, treatment and generate the proper advice for the patient with tropical infectious diseases. 4) Compare the primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare centres, and explain the referral system in Thailand. 5) Reflect ethical consideration of patient care and professionalism

We will leave BKK on the Sun 5th Dec, 2021 at 07:00. The van will leave in front of 60th Ann Building. We will be back the next Saturday. Take enough clothes and necessary things with you. You may need to prepare some presentations at the end of the activities as a group work.
