Statistical methods in biomedical research; Basic concepts, data analysis and interpretation, Statistical methodology; Assessing sampling error; Role of chance; t-test, Chi-square test, simple linear regression and correlation
Course Goals
The course aims to equip students with fundamental knowledge and basic skills in biostatistics including data analysis and interpretation as well as lifelong learning skills such as effective communication, collaborative skills and positive attitudes.
Course Objectives
- Has through knowledge and critical understanding in basic knowledge of biostatistics in biomedical and health sciences and data types in public health and clinical studies
- Consistently applies practical and theoretical knowledge and an appropriate statistical test of a hypothesis for analyzing the sampled data
- Critically analyze using a statistical software packages (R), interpret and evaluate statistical data and draw conclusion properly
- Accepts full responsibility for own work and cooperates fully and constructively with others in to deal or complete assigned research problems
- Effectively communicates data analysis results at appropriate levels and a wide range of appropriate features for informal and formal reports, academic and professional publications
Learning Outcomes
- Describe the basic knowledge of biostatistics in biomedical and health sciences
- Select appropriate statistics test of hypothesis bases on types of data for analysis
- Practice data analysis using software package (R), data interpretation and drawing conclusion
- Work constructively in teams to participate in reviewing and criticizing study design and statistical methods in selected research problem
- Effectively communicate or present data analysis results to support study or researches
