Course Goal
The course aims to equip students with fundamental knowledge and basic skills in epidemiology and biostatistics including measurements in epidemiology, risk assessment and strength of association, study de-signs review, data analysis and interpretation as well as lifelong learning skills such as effective communication, collaborative skills and positive attitudes.
Course Objectives
- Has through knowledge and critical understanding in basic knowledge of epidemiology and biostatistics in school health and health sciences
- Calculate and interpret the measures of disease frequency, measures of effect and measures of association
- Appropriately select study design, epidemiological measurements and statistics in school health and health sciences
- Consistently applies practical and theoretical knowledge and an appropriate statistical test of a hypothesis for analyzing the sampled data
- Critically analyze data using a statistical software packages (SPSS), interpret and draw conclusions properly
- Accepts full responsibility for own work and cooperates fully and constructively with others in to deal or complete assigned research problems
- Effectively communicates data analysis results at appropriate levels and a wide range of appropriate features for informal and formal reports, academic and professional publications
Course-level Learning Outcomes: CLOs
At the end of the course, the students should be able to
CLO1: Describe the basic knowledge of epidemiology and biostatistics in school health and health sciences
CLO2: Calculate and interpret the measures of disease frequency, measures of effect and measures of association
CLO3: Select appropriate study design, epidemiological measurements, statistics test of hypothesis bases on types of data for analysis
CLO4: Practice the data analysis using software package (SPSS) and data interpret and draw conclusions
CLO5: Work constructively in teams to participate in reviewing and criticizing study design and statistical methods in selected research problem
CLO6: Effectively communicate or present data analysis results to support study or research
